A Quilt Art Educational & Inspirational Event
January 26 to February 4, 2009
Canmore, Alberta, Canada

Conference Details*

Quilt Art Rockies, hosted by The Sugar Pine Company in Canmore, Alberta, is unique to Canada, with the focus on creation of original art quilts.

Leading instructors from across North America are invited, providing a diverse faculty with a very broad spectrum of quilting approaches and emphases. Most instructors offer two-day, three-day or combined five-day workshops. Workshops in 2009 are offered in two sessions, one from January 26 to 30, the next from January 31 to February 4. Participants are able to take up to 10 full days with instructors of their choice.

Workshops run from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM each day. Class rooms are opened at 8:30 AM with a 90 minute break for lunch. During lunch, you can enjoy a Show & Share by one of our instructors. These lunchtime lectures are often informal talks about the quilter's history and influences, and are an inspiring midday treat.  For those who are too inspired to stop, classrooms remain open until late in the evening.

An onsite store is set up at Rafter Six Guest Ranch. A variety of fabrics, books & patterns, and quilting/sewing tools & notions are available.

Each participant works on their own large table. Classrooms are equipped with flannel design walls and plenty of power for everyone's sewing machine. Rental sewing machines are available at the Conference for a nominal fee; user-friendly Husqvarna Viking sewing machines are provided by The Sugar Pine Company and come with all necessary accessories.

Join us at Rafter Six Ranch for 3 inspiring presentations by world-renowned quilt artists - included with all workshop & studio registrations. (Extra tickets $15 + GST in advance or at the door.) The schedule of lectures is as follows:
