Phil Beaver

Phil has taken the quilting world by storm. A lifetime artist, he has brought a wealth of experience from drawing, silversmithing & other metal work, weaving, three dimensional sculpture & fiber design. Phil became interested in quilting while attending a quilt show. He bought a simple mechanical sewing machine, sketched out a conceptual pattern, made his fabric, and the rest has been history. Since that discovery day he has won numerous major quilting awards including such titles as Best Use of Color; Best of Show; Best of Innovative Quilts, and Viewers Choice. Phil’s chief interest as an instructor is to help students find their own design personality and then impart skills to create their individual designs.

Sunflowers & Poinsettias
Learn to create Phil’s stunning, realistic poinsettias or sunflowers, using your own painted fabric. Begin with painting exercises to create effective fabrics for your projects. Then move on to creating effective pictorial quilt blocks & quilts, following Phil’s rough edge appliqué & other innovative construction techniques. March 11 & 12

Sunflowers, Poinsettias & Much More
Create your own original painted fabrics with Phil’s expert guidance. Then develop an original design for your quilt using Phil’s patterns or your own ideas & images. Learn Phil’s technique of machine rough edge appliqué & free motion quilting. Phil’s 2-day & 3-day workshops may be combined for an in-depth study of focal areas of your choice—painting, or design, or construction, or all three.
3 days, March 13  to 15

*Phil's patterns are available from The Sugar Pine Company.
