Idea to Image: A Creative Process Workshop
The
studio journey is explored in this highly personalized workshop: fueling up,
making the map vs. “winging it”, checking your toolbox, getting started, &
enjoying the trip. Fabric collage will be used as a way of exploring personal
imagery. The resulting small format images may be complete in themselves, or
seen as stepping stones toward larger pieces. Individual & group discussion
focuses on developing ideas & giving them form. 2 days, March 10 & 11
The Elements: Earth, Air, Fire & Water
Working
with sets of opposites - visual & conceptual - participants will develop an
original composition using natural elements as inspiration. Curved edge appliqué
construction will be taught as a fast & direct way of developing the designs.
Students may choose to work on a number of small pieces or to work on one larger
piece. Size, scale, materials & construction techniques are discussed &
demonstrated in the process of developing original & innovative work.
Instruction is highly personalized. Group discussion includes topics such as
nurturing the creative self, getting around an “artist’s block” & building a
series.
3 Days, March 12,13 & 14
