Conference Details*
The Canadian Rockies Quilt Art Canmore Conference is a unique
even in Canada, with the focus on creation of original art quilts.
Leading instructors from across North America are invited,
providing a diverse faculty with a very broad spectrum of quilting
approaches and emphases. Most instructors offer two-day, three-day
or combined five-day workshops. Two-day workshops run Saturday and
Sunday; three-day run Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday; five-day
combined, Saturday through Wednesday.
Participants can register for 5 days with one instructor, or
combine 2 & 3 day workshops with different instructors, depending on
availability. This flexibility allows you to create as varied a
learning experience as you would like.
In addition to outstanding
workshops, pre-Conference participants will enjoy:
·
faculty Show & Share sessions at lunchtime
·
Onsite mini-store open
during workshop hours
·
Optional buffet lunches
served by the Radisson Hotel
·
Open House Dessert Night
at the Sugar Pine Company downtown store. Prizes, goodies, Gift
with every purchase
Workshops run from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM each day. Class rooms are
opened at 8:30 AM with a 90 minute break for lunch. During lunch,
you can enjoy a Show & Share by one of our instructors. These
lunchtime lectures are often informal talks about the quilter's
history and influences, and are an inspiring midday treat. For
those who are too inspired to stop, classrooms remain open until
late in the evening.
Most participants workson their own large table. Classrooms are
equipped with flannel design walls and plenty of power for
everyone's sewing machine. Rental sewing machines are available at
the Conference for a nominal fee; user-friendly Husqvarna Viking
sewing machines are rented by The Sugar Pine Company and come with
all necessary accessories.
An onsite store is set up at the Radisson Hotel Conference
Center. A variety of fabrics, notions and books are available for
your projects. And in addition to quilting supplies, enjoy a quilt
show by Conference participants, hung with the Mini-Shop. The Sugar
Pine Company is close by as well - a five minute drive or a twenty
minute walk gets you to our 5,000 square feet of retail on two
levels. You're sure to find everything you need for all your
quilting projects.
Be our guest at the store for an evening Dessert Social and Gifts
With Purchase, plus door prizes. Come and go as you please, but we’d
love to have you join us for refreshments. Take home a gift with
your purchase (limit one per customer per night) on these special
shopping nights, exclusively for Conference participants.
Optional buffet lunches may be included in your Conference
registration for each day you are in a workshop if you choose. The
Radisson will provide buffet lunches, with the menu varying from day
to day. If you require a special diet, please advise us by February
15 so that we may notify the Food & Beverage department. If you wish
to opt out of the buffet lunches provided by the Radisson, please
notify us when you register, and we will adjust your fees
accordingly.

Conference Facilities
The Conference site is the Radisson Hotel and
Conference Center, located at 511 Bow Valley Trail, the main route
by which you enter Canmore. The Radisson has comfortable guest
rooms, kitchenette suites, a restaurant and lounge, room service,
swimming pool and hot tub, and a gift shop. The main hotel building
is the site of the Conference, where we transform the meeting rooms
into workshops. You are welcome to leave your machines and supplies
in the classrooms overnight. The rooms will be locked overnight;
however, neither The Sugar Pine Company nor the Radisson will accept
any responsibility for loss or damage to any of your items left in a
classroom or guestroom.
Hotel rooms have coffee makers, hair dryers, and
colour TV. The Radisson has guest rooms and suites in additional
buildings at the rear of the property as well as in the main
building. If you are staying at the Radisson during the Conference,
it is possible that your room may be located in a building other
than the main one, so you will want a jacket or sweater for the
short walk to the main building. Rooms and suites in these
additional lodgings are of the same comfort and quality as those in
the main building.
The restaurant and lounge are open throughout the
day should you wish to have additional meals at the hotel. Coffee is
available for purchase in the restaurant. Water will be provided in
the classrooms.
If you wish to stay at another hotel
or Bed & Breakfast in Canmore, you may wish to contact Travel

in instruction and support for quilters wanting to venture into
innovative work, The Sugar Pine Company established The Canadian
Rockies Quilt Art Canmore Conference. Running for five days and
featuring seven high-calibre instructors, this event features
opportunities to learn from internationally-acclaimed quilt
artists. Participants travel from around the globe to take part
in the outstanding opportunities for instruction and inspiration
here in the beautiful Canadian Rockies.
The Canadian Rockies Quilt Art Canmore Conference is highly
regarded by our faculty, who appreciate a five-day opportunity
to explore subject matter with their students. Held every year
at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center, Canmore’s largest,
the Conference takes place in the hotel’s meeting space, where
we convert the ballrooms and meeting rooms into classrooms and
lecture theatres.
Held March 9 to 14, 2007, the 2007 Conference is the sixth
annual, and features workshops with Phil Beaver, Joyce Becker,
Laura Cater Woods, Cynthia England, Ann Johnston, Lorraine
